Camping – Edgar Evins State Park
My first weekend in Nashville Abby and I went camping for the weekend. Edgar Evins State Park in Silver Point is a beautiful state park right off of Center Hill Lake. Our campsite was primitive right at the top of the hill overlooking the water.
This was Abby’s first foray into hammock camping. It was a little cold at night but I get the best sleep in my hammock and sleeping bag. Semie loved how close he could snuggle me and that he could jump from hammock to hammock.
Sunday, we got up early, ate a good breakfast, picked up some more firewood and started our journey for what turned out to be an 11 mile hike. Our Camelbaks were full, a few cliff bars packed and Semie full of energy raring to go we trekked the Millennium Loop and Merritt Ridge Loop trails.
After all of hiking, we were pretty worn out so we decided to just build a big fire and relax. It was a picture perfect night with more stars in the sky than I could see in Florida. We went to sleep early so we could pack up and get on the road first thing in the morning. I get the best sleep in the hammock the way that it contours and rocks, puts me right out. I can’t wait until it gets a little warmer I will be using them as much as possible.
It was a great kickoff weekend and I can’t wait to camp and hike more.
